September

Well here it is, September 30th, and I haven't blogged about anything since Labor Day. We have been SO busy and I'm not sure it is going to slow down anytime soon. Honestly, the only reason why I am blogging tonight is because I am cleaning off my phone because we have a special secret trip coming up on Sunday! Stay tuned for that...maybe in December I'll blog about it, ha!

Anyway, September started with a beach trip for me. Fun times! I always knew that the fall was the best time to go and this just confirmed it. It was still super hot, but not crowded at all.

The boys are staying busy with fall sports. Harrison is playing soccer and is doing so well. It is his third season to play, so everything has finally clicked. He loves it. He's scored multiple goals each game, which is fun to see. And we've figured out that he is our competitive one. While they don't technically keep score, little Harrison does!

One of his best buddies, Luca, is on his team and that has made it so much fun!

Hudson is doing cub scouts for the first time. In fact, Joel and Hudson are on their first camp out tonight and I am dying to hear how it is going! It is SUCH a sweet group of boys (and dads!) that are doing cub scouts and I think it's going to be really fun for Hudson and Joel.

Hudson is also playing flag football. He wanted to try it out again and he's having fun, but not sure this will make the fall list next year. I'm proud of him for giving it another go though!

I'm playing softball! It feels so good to be back on the field! I might be a little rusty (and certainly WAY out of shape!), but we are having so much fun. Our Sunday school class decided to get a team together this year and we call ourselves the Bad News Believers, which has been pretty true! :) We finally won our first game on Thursday night and you would have thought we won the lottery! We honestly do not care if we win or lose and that's what makes it fun. And we certainly enjoy the fellowship during our pre-game tailgates! (We're Methodist, it's ok! Ha!)

 More soccer pics...

Harrison had Pirate and Princess Day at school last Friday! Joel and I were BOTH out of town last week for work and so the kids were with Joel's parents and wouldn't you know, Hudson would come down with the stomach bug that would last for days and days. Anyway, I got home Wednesday night, Hudson had to miss school for the third day that week on Thursday so we were pretty much homebound, but thankfully we were able to hit up Party City real quick and they had a $10 pirate costume that made this little boy pretty darn happy for Friday's special day. What a week!

 Harrison's best buddy, Carter!
Hudson is also playing baseball this fall. It's only on Sunday afternoons, so it's very low key and perfect. It's been super hot though...the games are at Liberty Park this fall and I think that their fields are absolutely the hottest place on earth!

Oh and we've mastered climbing up the door frame!

Impressive, huh!?!?

Hudson had his first orthodontist appointment this past week and unfortunately, we are in for a long and expensive ride with Hudson's teeth! :) He can thank me as I had the same issues, but I'm feeling pretty sorry for Hudson and his mouth for the next year. He will have an expander for 4 months followed by braces for 4 months, and then braces probably again at 12! Yikes! Having good teeth ranks pretty high up on my list though, so it will be worth it!

Sweet Harrison got the same stomach bug this week that Hudson had last week. It was really just fever for him with some stomach issues, not nearly to the extent that Hudson had it, but he also missed three days this week. He is finally better though, just in time because he turns FIVE this weekend...I can't believe it...wasn't he just a baby?!?! We are celebrating him with a monster truck party tomorrow--his request. He wanted a bouncy and only boys. Easy peasy! Ha! Be back soon!

Labor Day Weekend

We spent Labor Day weekend at the cabin with my entire family. It was so fun! We have not done that yet since my parents have had the cabin. It was definitely a full house, but everyone had a bed so that was good. We spent most of the weekend outside, watching a little football, and eating so much our bellies hurt!

My parents got a pickle ball set and we spent so much time playing it! It was a blast. It's a little bit like tennis I guess?
Carrie is a huge Alabama fan, so I thought it would be fun to steal Rooney and put her in an Auburn jersey. Carrie was SO mad, but doesn't Rooney look happy?!?!

One of my clients is TNT Fireworks, and they came through and gave me some fireworks just in time for Labor Day! We shot a few of them off Saturday night (we did wait until it got dark!).

Of course there is always some Trump fun in our family...doesn't Dad look the part!?!

 Fam Jam 2016 picture!

After 2 nights of not much sleep, the boys were EXHAUSTED on the ride home. Hudson is not just laying like this...he is out cold!

It was a great weekend that went by way too fast! Can't wait to do it again!

Back to School

Well we are now a month into school and I am just now updating! Oh well....life is busy.

Hudson is in 2nd grade this year and Harrison is in his last year of preschool (cue the tears!!!). The day before school started, we had meet the teacher for both boys. Hudson got Ms. Carr, who we heard is just great. One month in and Hudson is loving 2nd grade, but boy, is she kicking his tail too! I'm convinced 2nd grade must be the year they whip them all into shape!

Harrison is in the Giraffe room with Mrs. Deborah and Mrs. Kim and we just love them. He has had a great month so far and is already learning so much. He will definitely be ready for Kindergarten next year after having this crew.

First day of 2nd grade picture! He was ready to go!

First day of 4K! He was super excited too!

First Friday night after school started...

As part of 2nd grade, each child in Hudson's class had to "apply" for a job. We were sent home with a list of job descriptions and Hudson had to pick 2 jobs he was interested in and fill out the application, with references included. He really wanted to be the class Mayor, so this was his first pick. I cannot find the picture I took of him running for Mayor, but he made a poster and had a little speech prepared as well. I was SO proud of him for doing that because that would have been the last job that I would have applied for--ha! He did not win, which resulted in a lot of tears the second week of school, but also was a really good life lesson for him on not getting what you want in life, but making the best of what you do get. He did get his second choice, which was the Ticket Officer. In their class, they are given a weekly salary, which they have to use to pay bills and such, and the class has established a set of rules that everyone has to abide by and if you do not follow any of the rules, you get a ticket. You have to pay a fine for each ticket. And 3 times this year, they have market day where they have to make something to bring in and sell and they use their "money" that they have saved to buy things at market day. It's a really neat concept. Hudson is in charge of recording the tickets when the kids get them. And boy, does he LOVE this job. It all worked out in the end! Unfortunately, he is giving himself way more tickets than anyone would like, but luckily it has not been anything major!

He loves the Ticket Officer job so much that he established a ticket system for us at home. He is getting our act together at home too! Ha! This is really hard to read, but each rule is color coded and on the left is where the tickets go if you receive one. As you can see on this night, Harrison received a black ticket--do not stick your face in a person's bottom. :) We.were.dying.

Our house rules:

Blue - Make your bed (if you don't you get one more chance and then you don't get your allowance)
Green - Read and do your homework (timeout if you don't)
Black - Do not stick your face in a person's bottom (timeout if you do)
Orange - Do not touch boy parts (can you tell we are a boy family?!!?)
Red - Keep self control (timeout)
Yellow - Do not touch a breakable thing that is not yours (timeout)

Hudson and Harrison came up with these rules all on their own and it has been so funny watching them use it on each other AND on us, and the poor dogs (and you know dogs love to sniff bottoms so there have been lots of black tickets given there!!!).

Anyway, so we've had several play dates after school on Fridays and overall, just getting back into the swing of things. It's nice to be back in our routine, although getting up before 6 is still a struggle for me.

It's going to be a great school year!
