Disney, Day 1!

We left for Disney bright and early on Harrison's actual birthday. The boys were SO excited! Just riding on an airplane was a highlight for them!

The first time we went to Disney a few years ago, we got down there and immediately went into the parks that day. We felt very rushed. You just never know if the plane will be delayed and honestly we had major delays on the Disney Magical Express last time getting from the airport to our hotel, and we did not want to worry about that happening again. It was much better for us!

We stayed at the Contemporary this time, which was WONDERFUL!!! We seriously loved everything about it. Well, maybe not the price, but when it's Disney, you go big or go home, right!?! When we arrived, Donald was right at our door to our room! How neat is that!?! Harrison seriously thought he was there for his birthday, so we obviously went along with it and told him that's how magical Disney is!

We asked to be put on the side of the hotel that you can see Cinderella's castle from (and the fireworks), but they didn't have any available, so we were on the other side. We ended up loving being on the water side and if we went back again, would prefer to have this view! They even had a boat parade just about every night!
We rested for a bit once we got to the hotel and then headed over to Fort Wilderness to attend the Hoop Dee Doo Review! We thought that might be a fun night to end Harrison's birthday. We could only get an 8:30 reservation which we thought would be fine since that is 7:30 our time, but after a weekend full of activity and excitement, Harrison was pretty much done by the time it started.

He did get recognized for it being his birthday! That was fun!!

And I think Hudson had the time of his life! He loved it!

As a side note, we got the Photo Pass this time and it was well worth the money! I did not have to lug around my big camera and we made sure to stop and get pictures every day!

The food at Hoop Dee Doo was great! We had a big bucket of fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, corn, baked beans, salad, AND cornbread. Oh and all the beer/wine you wanted! :) Harrison refused to eat anything so they brought him out mac and cheese and it was great too (but he wouldn't eat that either!). At the end they brought out the best strawberry shortcake! We were stuffed!

So Harrison pretty much sat in my lap the entire time and was just about asleep when one of the guys from the show came over to our table and asked me, with the child asleep in my arms, if I would go on stage. I wanted to say "no" so bad, but I knew the boys would think it was great so I reluctantly said I would do it. The things we do for our kids!

I had to put on a dress, do the can-can dance (I'm NOT a dancer) and I had to say a line. It was all completely mortifying. I hate being in front of people, much less speaking in front of a crowd. Oh and then there was that dancing thing. Humiliating.

There is a video out there, but it won't be making a public appearance. EVER.

The kids thought it was great though and Joel got a good laugh too and that's all that matters.

I would definitely say Hoop Dee Doo was fun! It was definitely something different. It was a great start to our trip!
